Alabama A&M to Retire Robert Mathis’ Jersey

Alabama A&M today announced that it will retire the number #55 jersey of alumnus and NFL defensive end Robert Mathis on March 3 during a halftime ceremony of AAMU’s annual spring game.
Mathis, a four-time All-Pro defensive end started four years for the Bulldogs, setting an FCS single-season record with 20 sacks in 2002. He is eighth among all active players and second in Colts’ history with 83.5 career sacks.
The event is free and is set to begin at 11:30 a.m. with the Louis Crews stadium gates opening at 10:30, according to a release.
