Big ideas were in no short supply on the campus of Alabama State University on Friday May 18, as the University hosted the Alabama Launchpad Business Plan competition grand finale.

Founded by the Economic Development Partnership of Alabama Foundation, the program gives start-up businesses momentum to take an idea from concept to reality, as teams compete for a $100,000 grand prize.

A total of six teams was selected to participate in the grand finale, during which they gave 12-minute pitches about their business models and technology plans and answered questions from a panel of judges.

The grand prize winner was inDegree Inc. from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). The company is developing an alumni-tracking service that helps universities build stronger alumni communities and helps students leverage their alumni networks in the job market.
