Alcorn State University recently closed its summer Children’s Defense Fund Freedom School program. The six-week summer enrichment program gave students from kindergarten through 12th grade enrichment activities that enhanced their historical knowledge, while developing a greater passion for reading.
Alcorn President M. Christopher Brown II greeted the audience and addressed scholars families: “You all must be really excited to see your children mature and grow over the summer. We thank you for the chance you gave Alcorn to help and touch the lives of your children. They will become teachers, engineers, doctors – men and women of substance. You have given us your treasure and we gave you back a polished jewel.”

Alcorn is taking the lead in Mississippi; diversity, reaching out side the state and country, setting high standards for Mississippi future, preparing Mississippi youth to compete in a global society. Alcorn is taking the lead. I’m proud to be an Alcornite.
