Autoimmune Disorder Takes Life of North Carolina A&T Student During Welcome Back Activities

Written by , Posted in North Carolina, North Carolina A&T State University, Students

A 20-year-old North Carolina A&T State University student has died after complications with scleroderma caused him to fall ill during welcome back activities at the university. Juwaun Paul Trotter became ill at the Union Takeover on the A&T campus last weekend, and was taken to Moses Cone Hospital after midnight where he later died.

Desiree Trotter says her son had the autoimmune disease scleroderma and was in constant pain. She says he was determined to attend college anyway and had attended a welcoming ceremony last summer but was unable to attend fall classes.

She says he did attend the spring semester and was looking forward to this fall’s semester.
