Bethune-Cookman Board Chairman Resigns

Written by , Posted in Bethune-Cookman University, Florida, Headlines, Leadership

The Daytona Beach News-Journal today reports the resignation of Bethune-Cookman board chairman Larry R. Handfield. Handfield, the first alumnus to serve as chair, was the person who last week broke the news of the retirement of president Trudie Kibbe-Reed.

The school also announced the resignation of fellow board member Randolph Bracy, also a BCU alum.

“Bethune-Cookman University holds a great debt of gratitude to these two alumni,” (new board chairman Lee) Rhyant said. “Their years of service will have a lasting impact on this institution that we all love.”

The resignations come in the mist of the board of trustees last week accepting the resignation of Trudie Kibbe Reed, 64, the university’s fifth president. Handfield had said Reed came to him in December about wanting to retire. (Daytona Beach News-Journal)
