Celeb KeKe Palmer, FAMU Students Clash on Twitter Over Hazing
Written by HBCU Digest, Posted in Florida, Florida A&M University, Students

Actress and singer KeKe Palmer took to Twitter last night to share some thoughts on hazing, to the chagrin of some students from Florida A&M University. While not negatively tweeting about FAMU and the Robert Champion hazing murder, it eventually went there between the two sides.
It’s crazy to me how some of these FAMU students are in my mentions right now as if mentioning hazing is a direct knock to them.

Yes a terrible hazing situation happened there, however I’m not knocking your school.

You’re making it as if that’s your schools thing and it isn’t. I know FAMU because of positive things.

I think how you’re acting is more disrespectful to your school then what you’re accusing me of, at least the people in my mentions.

Regrettably, there will always be an emotional, uninformed fringe to believe no one outside of their family or circle has the right to form an opinion on their family or circle. National story with long ranging impact beyond the campus? Doesn’t matter – don’t talk about my school unless you go here.
FAMU’s hazing culture cost Robert Champion his life, a university a firestorm of international media coverage, a year-long suspension for one of the most famous marching bands in the world, a president his job, and potentially, hundreds of thousands in lawsuits against the university. And that’s not to mention possible jeopardy to the school’s accreditation from aggressive politicians trying to bully the institution.
And no one beyond FAMU should give an opinion on the case?
FAMU students and HBCU supporters should be grateful that a Black celebrity is willing to talk about hazing. KeKe Palmer, or anyone willing to lend star power to making others aware of a negative social issue is a good thing.

FAMU aint all that anyway right now..everything about is bad at this point…no one at this point in time has any business critisizing another for their properly stated opinion…FAMU has lost all respect nationwide…
I don’t know that the school has lost respect nationwide; perhaps confidence is a better word and that’s only from those closest to the institution. I think FAMU remains a great school with exceptional educational opportunities for its students. Peeling back the layers of complacency among faculty, leadership is a good thing, even if painful for the school’s image short-term.
SMDH.
Its a touchy topic, but things won’t get better unless there is dialogue.
I want every Twitter and FB thug that is ready to go to war for FAMU to be a DUES PAYING MEMBER of the Alumni Association! #ShowAndProve

I know right . People, she isn’t saying bad things about famu, she is speaking about the hazing incident. so stop trying to keep drama going and blowing what she said out of proportion.
All of her comments seemed to be on point and with proper right. She was not out of line at all. And I am a diehard Rattler who bleeds Orange and Green!
