The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department today issued a statement, estimating attendance in the city for the CIAA Basketball Tournament at 200,000, and reporting no major incidents related to the event.
In a statement released, this morning, department officials say there were no major incidents during the four-day tournament, which ends today. However, they did point out an incident unrelated to the tournament just before midnight Sunday. They say officers arrested an unnamed person who allegedly fired a shot at an Alcohol Law Enforcement Agent’s vehicle at the corner of Stonewall Street and Kenilworth Avenue. Police say it appears the ALE agent was not targeted and no one was hurt. (WBTV)
In total, 31 arrests were made during the tournament, mostly for alcohol and disorderly conduct-related charges.
