Dawn Brown, an assistant women’s basketball coach under recently departed Toyelle Wilson at Prairie View A&M University, has been named interim head coach of the team, the university announced yesterday. Regarded as the program’s top recruiter, the Jackson State University alumna will lead a program that has won three consecutive SWAC women’s basketball tournament titles.
“I am excited to help carry on the tradition of winning at Prairie View A&M,” Brown, who was named an assistant coach in July 2010, said. “The fans, alumni and supporters are the backbone of our program and that support doesn’t waiver whether we are winning or losing. I am inspired by their support and will work hard to make sure that the product they see on the hardwood is one that they will be proud of.”
