ESPN’s Jemele Hill Draws Parallels Between FAMU, Penn State

ESPN columnist Jemele Hill recently wrote a column drawing some similarities between Florida A&M University and Penn State University in their lapses of executive oversight. The crimes aren’t the same, and bring about differing levels of horror when you think about them.
The similarities? People at the highest levels of leadership knew that there were issues with hazing and child molestation for years before the news broke. And for a multitude of reasons tied to issues well below protecting people, their allowances led to tragedies.
For HBCU culture, there’s going to be a new level of oversight and executive interest in whether marching bands or campus organizations are hazing, and how deep the culture of hazing goes. Because it’s not about death or severe injury for black colleges anymore; it’s about media waiting for the next HBCU scandal to break in hopes of uncovering a deeper picture of poor administrative judgment.

congratulation to the media, they raked in millions “selling” people these two stories. No one outside the three or four people who were on site at the time of these incidents knows what really happen.People only reacting to what the media “telling” us to believe.Wake up AMERICA two years ago Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Rothslinberger was accused of a similiar crime, and this same media made him look like the victim.Kids have been raped, molestead for years in this country, and the media has said little to nothing about it,Where is all the media coverage for them. You see AMERICA the media pick and choose what they want you to deem important, who the criminal, who not. This got national coverege “for” Penn State why you think it was announced that 208 million was raised for the school, then today 60million Penn State have to “give”to childwelfare!!!!!!!!!! .Why didn”t Mike Mequery or his father “call the police”,what about the so called people of the past. The more i hear the story the less i believe it all these people talking, seeing things, but no one called the police, but Joe Paterno was suppose to call give me a break.Remember Mike Mequery claimed he walked in the locker room saw Sandusky and the kid,and his reaction was to go home, not call police immediatelyor break up the ordeal!!!!! AMERICA anybody stop to ask themselves what happen to that kid on that specific day. FAMU situation sounds unbelieviable to me as well, you telling me of all the people on that bus no one called police, ambulance to help the guy in that moment, this one guy sitting on t.v. talking about what happen all of a sudden with no repercutions law wise. Why didn’t he tell all this to police on that day!!!!!!!!!,and now you on t.v.The media can’t tell me hazing doesn’t go on at FBS schools, resulting in serious injury,or a death.
