The family of murdered Florida A&M University drum major Robert Champion yesterday announced plans to formally file suit against the university on Wednesday. The announcement comes more than six months after Champion’s death, and outside of the term of prohibition for filing a lawsuit against a state institution.
Family spokesman Ryan Julison said Monday that the lawsuit is almost ready and that the family is traveling from Georgia to Orlando to file it.
“The situation has been evolving,” he said. “There has been new information coming on an ongoing basis.”
In February, the Champions filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the charter bus company and the driver of the bus on which Champion was beaten.
