FAMU Board Unanimously Selects Larry Robinson as Interim President

The Florida A&M University Board of Trustees today unanimously selected acting interim president Larry Robinson as the permanent interim leader. Dr. Robinson, who previously served as provost and vice-president of academic affairs for the university, assumed the presidency after the sudden resignation of former president James Ammons.
The Tallahassee Democrat reports that Dr. Robinson will name an interim provost, and awaits final confirmation of his appointment from the Florida Board of Governors.
In his short tenure as acting interim, Robinson has made key administrative hires, quietly developed a strategy for the halftime festivities of FAMU football games to replace the suspended Marching 100, and has addressed mounting pressure on the school about low graduation rates. Dr. Robinson appears to have a solid vision in place, and should make a compelling case to become a front-runner for the permanent presidency over this academic school year.
