Grambling State Wins 2010 SWAC Baseball Championship

The Grambling State University Tigers captured the 2010 SWAC Baseball Championship yesterday with a 15-2 win over Alcorn State University. The first baseball title for the Tigers since 1985, the win gives GSU an automatic berth in the NCAA Division I national baseball tournament. From the Advocate:

The Tigers took a 5-0 lead into the fifth inning and piled on from there, adding one run in the sixth, two in the seventh, four in the eighth and three more in the ninth.

Every player in Grambling’s starting lineup hit safely.

Cleanup hitter Steve Kletke was 3-for-5 with two RBIs — one of five Tigers who drove in two runs.

Grambling will learn its NCAA regional destination today, when seeds and pairings are announced.
