Jackson State Added to List of Schools Banned From Tyrann Mathieu Sweepstakes

Add Jackson State to the list of schools dismissed LSU defensive back Tryann Mathieu will not be joining this season. According to the Jackson Clarion-Ledger, Louisiana State rejected an appeal from JSU coaches seeking permission to speak with the Honey Badger, making the Tigers the second HBCU, along with Southern University, denied a chance at recruiting a Heisman Trophy finalist from a season ago.
Late Monday, JSU officials were told their release form seeking permission from LSU to contact cornerback Tyrann Mathieu had been denied, essentially shutting out JSU.No explanation for the denial was given, according to JSU officials.
No word on Prairie View A&M, the final HBCU rumored to be on Mathieu’s short list of transfer destination. Outlets are reporting that Mathieu will decide on a new school tomorrow.
