Killer Mike Says Elitist Attracted Him to Morehouse

Written by , Posted in Alumni, Georgia, Morehouse College

Here’s rap artist Killer Mike adding to the elitism stereotype that surrounds Morehouse College.

“The deciding factor for me getting into Morehouse was probably my homeroom teacher,” says Killer Mike, 37-year-old Atlanta rapper, talking on the phone from home. “He was a classist, an elitist. He was a snob. He dressed fly, sleek, stylin’ and profilin’ with the Rolex watch, the whole nine. He was a Morehouse man. His name was Mister Lee-Roy Arnold. But he pronounced it — because he was a Morehouse man — LeRoy.”

Killer Mike does go onto say that the teacher inspired him through tough love to earn his admission into Mother Morehouse. But its not the best look when one of the few celebrities willing to claim his HBCU roots confirms a piece of what so many believe to be a negative side of an otherwise glorious institution.
