Several alumni of MEAC schools representing a handful of nations today began their journeys toward Olympic gold. Ten athletes representing Hampton University, Norfolk State University, Morgan State University, Savannah State University and Florida A&M University are competing in the preliminary rounds of several track and field events.

The athletes represent the United States, Bahamas, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, France, Grenada, and the Dominican Republic.
