Valley Magic prevailed again yesterday, as the Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils used a last second shot to defeat Prairie View A&M 60-58 at home and to remain undefeated in conference play. With four games remaining in the regular season, MVSU has clinched a least a share of the SWAC men’s basketball championship, its first since the 2006-07 season, and remains on pace for its first NCAA post-season tournament appearance since 2008.
With Prairie View leading the undefeated Delta Devils 58-57 with 12 seconds remaining, Terrence Joyner pushed the ball up court and found an open Paul Crosby in the corner for an open three-pointer. The Lansing, Mich. native knocked it down and the Delta Devils kept their unblemished conference record in tact with a magical 60-58 win over the Panthers (11-15, 7-6 SWAC).
