Radio Host, HBCU Advocate Tom Joyner to Deliver 2010 North Carolina Central Commencement Address

Syndicated radio host, media mogul and HBCU advocate Tom Joyner will be the keynote speaker at the 2010 commencement exercises for North Carolina Central University on May 15, 2010 beginning at 8:00 a.m. in O’Kelly-Riddick Stadium.

“Few people in the United States have demonstrated greater appreciation and support for African-American institutions of higher learning than has Tom Joyner,” said NCCU Chancellor Charlie Nelms. “In light of the successes and challenges that NCCU has faced in its 100-year history, I think it’s particularly appropriate that someone with Joyner’s love for higher education will speak to our graduates on the commencement of our Centennial Class.”

Joyner is the latest in what has amounted to a spring of superstar speakers being lined up for HBCU graduations. Joyner is insightful, funny and well-versed on the black college experience. The only thing that could possibly go wrong with his appearance, is J. Anthony Brown running amongst the graduates with a microphone snapping on outfits and stoles.
