Raleigh City Council To Honor Saint Augustine’s Sports Programs

The Saint Augustine’s College men’s track and field, women’s volleyball and women’s basketball teams will receive proclamations from the Raleigh City Council for their athletic achievements this season on Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at the Raleigh Municipal Building at 1 p.m.
The men’s track and field team will be honored for winning their 14th straight CIAA indoor title and earning a No. 1 ranking in the NCAA Division II outdoor poll. The women’s volleyball team will be recognized for capturing their first CIAA crown since 2003 and advancing to the NCAA Division II playoffs for the first time in eight years. All three squads won the CIAA highest team grade point average award in their respective sport this season, with the women’s basketball team taking the award for the third straight year.
