SC State President Fires Several Top Administrators

Written by , Posted in Headlines, Leadership, South Carolina State University

South Carolina State University officials are releasing little information on an investigation that resulted in the firing of several top campus administrators yesterday, including the chief of police, vice president of student affairs and general counsel.

“After reviewing preliminary findings of this investigation I have determined that several personnel changes needed to be made, effective immediately,” Cooper said. “As it is the practice of S.C. State University, the nature of personnel matters is not publicly disclosed.

“It is important that you know that as president of S.C. State University, I take very seriously the administrative and fiduciary responsibility entrusted to me. I am committed to ensuring that the students who attend S.C. State University remain (the) top priority and that we sustain public trust in the work that we do.” (Times and Democrat)

The T&D is reporting that sources with knowledge of the firings say the board of trustees is unclear on why specific officials were dismissed, the nature of the investigation, or possible outcomes as a result of findings.
