Shaw Alumni Banquet Funds to Aid in Campus Recovery

Millionaire lawyer and Shaw University alumnus Willie Gary wants people to support black universities.
“They were there for you when you had no place else to go,” Gary told a crowd at the Crown Coliseum’s Hospitality Room on Friday night. “We need them now more than ever before.”
Gary, a successful trial and personal-injury lawyer from Florida who previously donated $10 million to his alma mater, was speaking to a crowd of about 375 at the Shaw University Alumni Association’s 10th annual banquet. Seats at the event went for $30 each or $250 per table.
