South Carolina State University Interim President Dr. Cynthia Warrick will make about $145,000 annually in her position, roughly the same salary that former president George Cooper made before his resignation earlier this year.
She does not have a contract with the university, but will work as a non-tenured employee at the will of the board, which means the board can replace her with a permanent president at any time.
A description of her duties says that Warrick’s primary job will be to lead the coordination and implementation of planning, development and assessment of all university activities. It also says that Warrick has the authority to exercise “complete and total direction of the institution and administration of its affairs.”
Dr. Warrick will replace acting president Dr. Rita Teal on July 5.
