Southern Professors to Lead 2012 International Information, Communication Technology Conference in Uganda

Faculty members from the Southern University System are leading and participating in the 2012 International Conference on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for Africa in Kampala, Uganda, March 21-24.

The international conference will initiate a research and practice agenda for improving socio-economic conditions for the disadvantaged. Themed “Africa’s E-Inclusion: Defying the Odds and Leading the Way in Global ICT Innovation,” this conference will bring together a mix of practitioners and academicians in the area of ICTs for sustainable development. Panel discussions will focus on areas such as funding opportunities, e-democracy, ICT and women empowerment, and e-medicine.

Southern University, Baton Rouge professor Victor Mbarika is serving as the conference chair. Other SU faculty members including Chanika Jones, assistant professor, criminal justice, Damien Ejigiri, professor, public administration, and Jarrett Landor, assistant professor, educational leadership, are serving as conference co-chairs.
