SUNO to Develop Social Work Doctoral Program

The Louisiana Board of Regents earlier this month authorized Southern University at New Orleans to develop a doctoral program in social work. When offered, the DSW program will be just the second in the state along with Louisiana State University, and the first in the city of New Orleans.

“Today’s approval from the Board of Regents allows us to develop a doctoral program to respond to the workforce need of the state and will be a better fit for applicants who are interested in an advanced practice degree in social work,” said SUNO Chancellor Victor Ukpolo.

SUNO’s School of Social Work has graduated more than 2,000 graduates in the field since 1985.
