Suspect in Morgan State Shooting Arrested, Charged with Attempted First-Degree Murder

Written by , Posted in Maryland, Morgan State University

Baltimore City Police today arrested Kelly Lamont Ellerbe and charged him with attempted first-degree murder in connection with a shooting that took place in the Morgan State University Student Center. Officials say that Ellerbe, a non-student, confronted and shot Michael Antonio Campbell, another non-student, after an alleged dispute over drugs.

Ellerbee was identified as the shooter based on accounts from witnesses at the school and was seen running through a hallway after the shooting, police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said.

Police said there had already been a warrant out for Ellerbee’s arrest on drug-related charges when he was picked up by police about 2 p.m. Tuesday.
