Alexander Kinyua, a former Morgan State University student facing aggravated assault and attempted murder charges stemming from two separate attacks last month, is being held at a state mental hospital outside of Baltimore City at the request of his attorney.

Kinyua’s attorneys are seeking tests for competency in the high-profile case, which attracted national attention when Kinyua confessed to eating the internal organs of Kujoe Bonsafo Agyei-Kodie.
