Alabama A&M offensive lineman Jamaal Johnson-Webb will be among the participants at the 2013 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis in February. Reserved for collegiate players with high chances of being drafted, the combine puts players from power conferences and mid-major programs on an even plane of performance evaluation.

Johnson-Webb is the first Bulldog in school history to be invited to the combine.

“Four years of hard work and I got better every year,” Johnson-Webb said Thursday afternoon at Louis Crews Stadium. “And now the opportunity is in front of me. It was great news I got when I was invited to the combine. I’m going to go from here and keep working hard and take advantage of my opportunities.”

Renowned Alabama A&M University Dean of Engineering and Technology Dr. Arthur J. Bond died Sunday at the age of 73. Dr. Bond was one of the co-founders and early advisors of a student group at Purdue University that would evolve into the National Society of Black Engineers.

A lifelong activist for diversity and gender inclusion in engineering, Dr. Bond held faculty positions at Tuskegee University and Alabama A&M. He is credited as an expert advocate in the desegregation lawsuit against the State of Alabama, which led to the establishment of AAMU’s engineering program and earned accreditation in 2000.

Alabama A&M’s engineering building was named for Dr. Bond in 2010.
