Alabama A&M University and Alabama State University are part of a statewide consortium of universities helping entrepreneurs launch small businesses in Alabama. The HBCUs are members of Alabama Launchpad, a business pitch competition that awards start-ups grants to businesses in the incubation stage.
AAMU and ASU are the only historically black colleges among the seven state institutions helping to fund the program.
