UMES Announces Juliette Bell as New President

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore today announced Dr. Juliette B. Bell as its new president. Dr. Bell comes to UMES from Central State University, where she served as provost and vice-president of academic affairs.
“We are extremely pleased that Dr. Bell has accepted our appointment as president of UMES,” University System of Maryland Board of Regents Chairperson Patricia S. Florestano said. “She has an impressive record of outstanding leadership in many areas, including enhancing academic excellence, creating opportunities to attract research and private support, and nurturing pathways of success for students. The board is confident that she will serve the university, our system, and our state extremely well in the years ahead.”
Dr. Bell held executive research and academic oversight positions at Fayetteville State and Winston-Salem State prior to her tenure at Central State. She is an alumna of Talladega College and Atlanta University (now Clark Atlanta University).
