The Alabama State University Board of Trustees yesterday approved a four-year contract for new president Joseph Silver, who will take the helm at ASU on September 17. Dr. Silver, current provost at Clark Atlanta University, will make $325,000 per year.

Pending approval from the Alabama State University Board of Trustees, Joseph Silver will be formally named the university’s next president at the Board’s next meeting tentatively scheduled for late June.
Dr. Silver accepted an offer from the Board’s presidential search committee after a month of negotiations. He is the current provost at Clark Atlanta University, and is an alumnus of Saint Augustine’s College and Atlanta University.
