Norfolk State University hoops legend Kyle O’Quinn has signed a three-year deal with the Orlando Magic. The second-round NBA Draft pick and MEAC Player of the Year in 2012 will receive one-year guaranteed, with the final two years optioned to the team.
“It’s hard to believe when you look at the whole road, but one thing led to another and now we’re here,” he said. “It’s pretty exciting. It’s another day you sit back and look at all you’ve been through. It’s another step in your career.”
O’Quinn led Norfolk State to 26 wins, the most in school history at the Division I level. The Spartans also won the MEAC’s regular season and tournament championships, and the gave the sports world its latest MEAC March Madness upset special, a victory over top-five ranked Missouri.
