Three Former Hampton Track and Field Athletes Finish 2011 Ranked in World Top 10

The Daily Press today featured a story on three former Hampton University track and field athletes who completed the 2011 season ranked in the top ten in the world by Track and Field News

Francena McCorory is ranked fourth in the 400-meter dash, Kellie Wells is ranked fourth in the 100-meter hurdles and Yvette Lewis is eighth in 100-meter hurdles.

McCorory, a three-time NCAA champion at Hampton in 2009 and 2010, finished fourth in the World Championships in the 400 meters in August, running a 50.45 in the final. She ran a personal-best 50.24 in the semifinals.

McCorory, who also anchored the gold medal-winning 1,600-meter relay team at the World Championships, was a four-time All-American for the Lady Pirates. (Daily Press)
