Tuskegee President Gilbert Rochon Elected Council of 1890 Universities Chair

Tuskegee University yesterday announced the election of its president Gilbert Rochon as Chair of the Council of 1890 Universities. Dr. Rochon replaces George Cooper, who will leave his position as Council chair when his resignation from South Carolina State University takes effect on Mar. 31.

In his position, Dr. Rochon will co-chair of the U.S. Department of Agriculture/1890 Task Force and sit on the board of directors of the Association of Public and Land Grant Universities. His full three-year term will begin on Nov. 1.
