Virginia Union University today announced the death of its oldest alumnus, Wesley T. Carter. The 104-year old graduated from VUU in 1929.
Carter, ’29, was an avid VUU sports fan–attending every road and home football and basketball game, including the school’s home basketball finale against Bowie State on February 20 of this year.
According to Virginia Union, Carter was also the nation’s oldest living Phi Beta Sigma brother.
While in school, Carter played basketball with the Richmond Phi Beta Sigma team alongside greats such as “Puff” Taylor and “Stretch” Gardner.
