What Will It Take to Bring Old Dominion to Norfolk State’s Dick Price Stadium?

Written by , Posted in Sports, Virginia

The local media thinks its a good idea. Norfolk State fans, in small part, are working to make the game happen with a petition to the Board of Visitors.

So what’s taking so long for Old Dominion to sign up for a game against in town rival Norfolk State University?

There’s clear regional interest, and while Hampton is working its way back to being a MEAC title contender, NSU is the champion that is right there, needing only a home contest with ODU to deepen its recruiting footprint in the region. ODU holds all the cards for the matchup; the Monarchs put a good beating on the Spartans in last year’s FCS playoffs, and outside Norfolk’s Black community, ODU holds much of the media and social attention in the city. They can call the shots on when and where to play the Green and Gold.

But if enough people call out ODU for avoiding a big game with regional interest and plenty of money to go around, why not mobilize to make it happen?
