The roommate of Nolan Henderson, a Jackson State University freshman who was killed at an off-campus pool party in March, says that at least five members of the school’s football team attacked Henderson before he left the party and returned with the man alleged to have murdered him with a gunshot to the face.
Henderson’s roommate at the time of the shooting, Howard Nelson, said he was at the party the night Henderson died. He said he saw at least five members of the football team beat Henderson.
Nelson said he taped a statement with his attorney and sent it to the Jackson Police Department.
“Ryan came over to me and he said, ‘I think he finnin’ they going to try to jump on me. I made a mistake and bumped into him but I told him I’m sorry,’” Nelson said in the recorded statement. “When we started leaving they just jumped on him.” (WAPT)
