WSSU wins CIAA football title

Fourth-ranked Winston-Salem State won the ninth CIAA football title in school history Saturday by defeating Elizabeth City State 38-18 in front of nearly 12,000 at Durham County Stadium.
The Rams improved to 11-0 to tie the school record for wins in a season. The 1977 and ’78 teams each went 11-1.
