On Monday, January 18, 2016, Howard law students converged on Thurgood Marshall Academy (TMA) to assist students with the college application process. The law students, many dressed in Howard law gear, helped students with FAFSAs, personal statements, and the basic application process. They also gave the TMA students some sage advice about studying law and preparing for careers as lawyers. TMA is a public charter school located in Southeast Washington, DC, that offers a curriculum for students interested in law as a career.
“What an amazing day,” said Derrick Petit, third year Howard law student and vice president of the Student Bar Association. “We have adopted TMA as our ‘baby brother’ and will be going back to see them in February for black history month,” he said.
